Do not put Hazardous Materials in Your Dumpster
Will I Be Charged if I Put Hazardous Materials into the Dumpster?
Hazardous Materials in Your Dumpster
Unfortunately, if you place hazardous materials into a roll off dumpster you will be charged a special hazardous materials disposal fee. Hazardous materials are extremely dangerous to our health and to the environment. Hazardous materials include but are not limited to hazardous chemicals like;
- Fuel
- Household appliances containing chlorofluorocarbon
- Propane tanks
- Radioactive waste
- Explosives
There are special guidelines to dispose of such waste. Due to these special guidelines in ridding of this waste, a cost comes with this particular issue. As it has always been, and will always be our mission to provide you with the easiest transaction in dumpster rental, we simply cannot avoid charging an extra fee for disposal of hazardous materials.
We serve as firefighters and along with fighting fires we also see our fair share of hazardous materials incidents. These include everything from fuel leaks to radioactive exposures, so we have seen first-hand what happens when a hazardous material is mishandled. One thing that we have certainly learned from responding to these incidents is that the clean-up is extremely expensive. It usually involves bringing in a specialized contracting company with specialty training to clean up the hazardous materials mess.
The same concept applies in ridding of hazardous materials waste with regards to dumpsters. If a hazardous material is found in a dumpster, it could potentially require a specialized team of individuals to properly dispose of the waste. As you may have guessed, these specialized teams normally come at a significant cost; a cost monetarily speaking and a cost to our environment from the exposure. These types of costs are what could potentially land you (the customer) on the hook to pay the bill for the proper clean up and disposal of this waste. In closing, it’s best to leave the hazardous materials clean-up to the professionals and allow our dumpsters to take the rest.
